Arrestraam for 3 frames German normal. The honeycomb method is for beekeepers who want to avoid medication in the control of varroa mites.
In this case, one or two empty honeycombs are placed in the arrest cage and the queen is locked in it.
Every seven to nine days the honeycomb is replaced with new empty honeycombs, for a maximum of four times in total.
Removing residual mites with oxalic acid or lactic acid is now also possible.
Possible applications of the honeycomb bag:
- during varroa treatment
- to better replace old brood frames
- reduce the queen's brooding activity during honey harvest so that the bees collect more honey
- to prevent the queen from swarming.
