Velutina Val
Protecting Your Bee Colonies.
Velutina (Asian hornets), attracted by the attractant, move towards the light and are captured in the collection containers. When using for the first time, fill the container slightly more than half full with the attractant.
Insects, bees and others can easily get out through the small holes at the bottom or sides of the trap.
The insects never come into contact with the attractant (important for the hygienic aspect depending on the attractant). The hornets stay alive for a certain time and attract other hornets with their pheromones!
Velutina fall
When using for the first time, fill the container slightly more than half full with the attractant.
Instructions for use of the Velutina Stairs:
1. Assemble the trap according to the instructions provided.
2. Pour the attractant into the trap by moistening the white lines next to the holes.
3. For first use, fill the attractant halfway up the container (approximately 400 ML). The hornets are attracted by the liquid attractant, enter through the small holes and travel along the container. They are then trapped in the collection chambers. The captured hornet pheromones serve to attract other hornets.
4. Place the trap strategically in the hornet's flight path, preferably in shaded areas to the left and right of your hives, or hanging from a tree branch. Do not expose the trap to direct sunlight.
5. Replenish the attractant regularly to maintain the trap’s effectiveness. Simply pour it into the holes next to the white sticks. Use a modest amount of liquid for refilling and keep the container about half full, especially in high temperatures. Empty completely and refill when the attractant noticeably degrades and fails to attract hornets.
Additional guidelines:
- When filling the trap with bait , hold the cord, press the latch and lift the roof to access the container.
- Follow the instructions provided to assemble and separate the collection trays . To separate the collection trays, turn them approximately 30 degrees to the left or right and remove them carefully, as hornets may emerge from the holes.
- Place the trap near your apiary, but avoid locations where the internal temperature of the collector is high, as this can affect the performance of the trap . Choose shaded areas to the left and right of the apiary, and make sure to hang the trap along the hornet's flight paths.
Follow these instructions to use the Velutina Trap effectively and protect your bee colonies from hornet infestations.
